Invitations

We're making our own invitations. We went to some invitation stores a few months back but found a store near by our place that specializes in paper. We decided on some colours and bought some paper styles, again, a couple months back but didn't get around on piecing them together.

We spent about an hour today doing a layout and some wording for the invitations. It was a success! We're about 85% complete in terms of deciding on the format and style. Once we figure out the other 15%, we'll have to purchase everything and be a factory line worker and make it.

Back in Toronto...

After a nice and relaxing vacation, we are back home! Which means...back to wedding planning! A meeting was held on the weekend to review our whole plan again. We decided on dates and deadlines on when things will be getting complete. It's already the end of March and by the time we know it, it'll be October!

A lot of the pieces will start filling in over the next month or so, with new deposits being put down and stores to visit.

A bigger item happening in the next few weeks will be our attire! Devika has her wedding dress, but we will be looking for something for her to wear on the Saturday. I will also be looking for something to wear on the Saturday too, as well as for Sunday.

I hope to be blogging more from now on since there will be more activity on the wedding side. Blog you soon!

Panic, planning, pushing through

I've finally mustered up the energy to start blogging again. With a small panic attack about planning out of the way, I'm ready to go and so is Dennis...I think. Not much has taken place since the last blog, which is fine because we should take a break, clear our heads and start planning again with renewed energy and excitement.

What have we achieved since the last post:
1) Picked up samples of our invitation and that's it. They are sitting in a brown envelope under the ottoman. Next steps: Start thinking about wording and how are we going to print the darn things? Also, some assembly is required: paper + card stock + ribbon
2) Met with a florist. He was very passionate about flowers; the way he described my calla lily bouquet wrapped in the same ribbon as my dress made my heart melt. Oh did I mention that he was way out of our budget? Next steps: Find a budget friendly florist. We have two appointments with florists in Whitby and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that their prices are within our range.
3) I reviewed the wedding budget with a friend who just got married. She had great advice on how we could cut costs and if our current prices were accurate. I highly recommend discussing your budget with someone else.
4) After waiting over 3 months, my wedding dress is finally here! I feel excited, happy and nervous about seeing it again. I know i'll love it because I loved it the moment I saw it. Having the dress arrive just means that October will be here before we know it. Small pieces of this crazy, fun and memorable puzzle are slowing being put together to make up two memorable and beautiful days.

Next: Flowers, DJ and Saree shopping

Now that we've ordered our cake and chosen a photographer we are going to try and get a DJ, find the best price for flowers, and make our first attempt at Indian wedding clothes shopping. It will good to get an idea if a saree would be more comfortable to wear or a salwaar. Also, it will be fun to see Dennis in Indian wear.

Wedding Cake: Check!

Put down our deposit for the wedding cake! It's getting made at The Wedding Cake Shoppe (www.theweddingcakeshoppe.com). We found the cake in a magazine and they're able to recreate it! - Dennis.

Wait, there's still more to do!!! What about the butter cream filling? Did you know there are 20+ flavours to choose from? I think we have to enlist the help of family and friends to help us choose. Cupcake testers could be in the near future for you! - Devika

A picture is worth a thousand words.

Met with a another photographer today.
Compared to the first photographer we met:
Not as professional.
Pictures aren't as nice.
Album isn't as fancy.
...but oh so cheap.
