Coordinator and Wedding Bands
With only 142 days to go we've decided on a wedding planner to help us manage some areas of the wedding. I'm happy to say that we have a lot of great friends and family that have offered to help us and we will definitely be recruiting their assistance.
Also, we picked up our wedding bands on the weekend. I wonder if it’s bad luck to wear my wedding band for a few minutes each day just to get use to it?
Up next: assembling invitations and engagement shoot (exciting), we will keep you posted.
Enjoy the sunshine!

Pundit

We met with the pundit who will be performing our ceremony.
A pundit is defined as a teacher, skilled in Sanskrit and Hindu religion.
He has known Dennis and I for a very long time so we feel really comfortable having him perform the ceremony. When we met with him on Saturday he walked us through what we (and our families) need to do on the day before the wedding and on the day of the wedding. He described why we perform certain actions in the wedding ceremony and it helped us understand the various steps in the ceremony.
Closer to the wedding we will post the steps involved in a Hindu ceremony so you get familiar about what to expect.
A little over 5 months before the big day!

The bouquet toss and garter toss
About two weeks ago we attended Dennis' cousin's wedding (congratulations Wilson and Crystal!). When it was time for the garter toss there was some hesitation from Dennis to participate but after some pressure there he was standing with the other guys. Before I knew it, the garter was in Dennis' hand, it just landed there like it was meant to be.
Now that Dennis had the garter, I had to get the bouquet. I stood at the front of the group but was not sure if I would get it; from my past bouquet toss experiences the bride usually whips it and the person at the back always get it. But when Crystal tossed the bouquet it landed in front me and I don't think anyone else went to get it because I was the only one on the ground reaching for it :)

Fun coincidence since Dennis and I are next in line to marry :)
Did you know that the bouquet toss originated from England and was believed to be a way to pass on good luck to others. The guests would try to rip the bride's clothing to get her luck so brides started tossing their bouquets, it was a way to pass on the luck and avoid having the bride's clothes and flowers damaged.

Invitations
We're making our own invitations. We went to some invitation stores a few months back but found a store near by our place that specializes in paper. We decided on some colours and bought some paper styles, again, a couple months back but didn't get around on piecing them together.
We spent about an hour today doing a layout and some wording for the invitations. It was a success! We're about 85% complete in terms of deciding on the format and style. Once we figure out the other 15%, we'll have to purchase everything and be a factory line worker and make it.

Back in Toronto...
After a nice and relaxing vacation, we are back home! Which means...back to wedding planning! A meeting was held on the weekend to review our whole plan again. We decided on dates and deadlines on when things will be getting complete. It's already the end of March and by the time we know it, it'll be October!
A lot of the pieces will start filling in over the next month or so, with new deposits being put down and stores to visit.
A bigger item happening in the next few weeks will be our attire! Devika has her wedding dress, but we will be looking for something for her to wear on the Saturday. I will also be looking for something to wear on the Saturday too, as well as for Sunday.
I hope to be blogging more from now on since there will be more activity on the wedding side. Blog you soon!
- Dennis
